Real Learning Summit Brings Together Nation's Learning Leaders; Notable Education Experts
Discussions tie importance of corporate learning to business objectives
March 24, 2010 - The nation's most respected learning leaders will meet at the Real Learning Summit today through March 26. The Summit, hosted by Bellevue University and The Human Capital Lab is being held at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif. The by-invitation-only event is a high-level, three-day discussion with experienced practitioners working to innovate in corporate learning.
Learning leaders from Verizon Wireless, Convergys, ACI Worldwide, Inc., ConAgra Foods, and more will discuss, debate, and find solutions to their most common corporate learning concerns: developing and deploying a learning program; communicating the program and gaining C-suite support; measuring the program's effectiveness. The Summit is designed to help learning leaders impact the bottom line and support their organization's most important asset - people.

- Holly McKiernan - Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the Lumina Foundation for Education, an organization dedicated to improving entry and success rates for post-secondary education. McKiernan will kick off the Real Learning Summit today addressing investing in employee education as a way to improve employee retention and develop a leadership pipeline.
- Michael Horn - noted education researcher and co-author of Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns. Horn is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Education for Innosight Institute, a not-for-profit think tank devoted to applying the theories of disruptive innovation to problems in the social sector. Horn will close the Real Learning Summit addressing how using disruptive innovation can identify the root causes of educational struggle and work to customize educational paths for learners.

- Frank J. Anderson, Jr. - President of the Defense Acquisition University (DAU). Anderson has led the strategic planning process that has shaped the DAU.
