The Human Capital Lab recently published the sixth edition of its twice-monthly blog, the latest example of how the lab has established itself as a one-stop-shop and industry leader for talent development insights and strategy.
Since the blog launched this summer, Executive Director Rich Douglas has authored six short articles on a variety of timely topics, including: how talent development professionals can take control of their own career development; how industry pros can “make the leap to the C-Suite”; and how you know if you’re truly a “talent development professional.”
In his blog titled “Own Your Development,” Douglas writes: “In today’s work environment, employers still want to get you ready to perform your current job duties, so they’re usually interested in providing the training and preparation you need to get the job done. But your development—your preparation for the future—is often left to you. You have to make decisions about getting advanced training or earning a college degree (or another one!).”
Douglas has more than 40 years’ experience in training, leadership and delivering solutions for businesses and organizations. During a career that spans the for-profit and non-profit sectors, he previously held leadership positions at AT&T, Corrections Corporation of America, the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security. Douglas took over as executive director of the Human Capital Lab in 2023.
